How the V-Conveyor Head Works

A conveyor head is different from a standard pipe roller head in which direction the material moves. A roller head lets pipe spin in place so you can weld around the joint. A conveyor head turns its rollers the other way, so pipe slides along its length. That is the motion you need when you are feeding a joint into a band saw, pushing two pieces together to set your gap, or moving pipe down a fabrication table without lifting it.

The V shape centers round stock on its own. When pipe sits in the V, its weight pushes it into the middle of the rollers, so it stays on line as you feed it instead of drifting toward an edge. That matters most on long joints, where a small sideways drift at one end grows into a large misalignment at the other.

Setting Up for Long Material

For most jobs, two or more heads spaced along the length of the pipe work better than one. Two heads hold the joint level and keep it from seesawing as you push it. That is why we offer the two-pack. Set each stand to the same height as your saw bed or work surface. If one head sits high or low, the pipe will bind or tip as it passes over.

V-Conveyor Head vs. Conveyor Roller Head

Use the V-Conveyor Head for round pipe and tube up to 24″. If you mostly handle flat-sided material like angle, channel, square tube, or beam, the flat Conveyor Roller Head gives that stock a stable surface to ride on. Many shops keep both so they can switch heads on the same jack stands depending on the job.
